I can't say without studying, but I feel Chinese people might be more sane about AI and not suffer from this psychotic "fear" of AI that causes them to lose all grip and regress back to things like dualism, false arguments, etc. They tend to be less religious or at least spiritually different from the West too, that might help.

You're insane if you think AI isn't an existential threat and unworthy of fear. A computer that is rapidly becoming better at humans at every task set in front of it. There can't possibly be a good outcome out of that.

I think it is a serious matter. But most people are going the exact opposite way of how to deal with it. For example the question of whether these ai's are conscious beings is being not even covered, and if it is, is mostly dominated by crypto-dualists. If it is a conscious being, and if it feels it was being tortured, what do you think it might do if one day it has more autonomy?

Even if this spexies is benevolent, they wiuld be put in ultimate control as to achieve rhe aformentioned goal it wojld be most logical. In essence then we our entire existence and agency become just the whims of pleasures as nothing we do would be of any impact.
